New Apple iPhone 6 Will Not Be Fitted With Sapphire Glass Reports JP Morgan

Apple iPhone 6
Rumours and speculation are still circulating around the new Apple iPhone 6 ahead of next month’s Apple press conference which is scheduled to take place on September 9th.
Previously its been reported that Apple may only be offering sapphire glass screens on only its higher end iPhone 6 smartphones. However today JP Morgan reports that the investment company thinks its unlikely that Apple will start shipping iPhones equipped with sapphire glass until next year.
Even though Apple has already made investments in the manufacturing of sapphire glass, investing $578 million to help furnace maker GT Advanced Technologies manufacture the new sapphire glass screens. JP Morgan has explained to investors that due to the prohibitive costs associated with producing material in large quantities it unlikely to be part of the design of the new iPhone being unveiled next month.
Analyst Rod Hall released a report to investors, of which a copy was then provided to the AppleInsider website, explaining their thoughts on what Apple’s plans for the rollout of sapphire glass to the next generation of Apple iPhone 6 smartphones might be. Hall explained in his report:
“Although we have channel indications that some sapphire devices will be produced, we actually lean toward Apple selling no sapphire phones this year,”-“”On sapphire as a feature — we see it as a huge phone seller. The screens are reportedly unscratchable (except by diamond) and virtually indestructible. We believe most people will want sapphire when and if it ever becomes available.”
Perhaps the investment for the sapphire glass manufacturing has been for the highly rumoured but as yet unannounced Apple iWatch smartwatch, rather than for inclusion on the next iPhone 6 device after all.
As more information is made available in the run up to and during the highly anticipated Apple September 9th 2014 event we will keep you posted.
