Spy Shots: Is Land Rover Working on a Hotter Range Rover Sport?

A camouflaged prototype of the new generation 2014 Range Rover Sport roaming outside the Nürburgring track caught the attention of our spy photographers, and all for good reason.
You see, the regular versions of the Range Rover Sport Mk2 are already available for order in a number of countries with delivers set for this fall (i.e. Land Rover UK made an announcement today). On top of that, this particular prototype was wearing a modified front bumper with larger air inlets. There are no other visible differences from the production Range Rover Sport.
Given the lack of information from Land Rover itself, we can't be absolutely sure what the British company is testing here, but one possibility is that it's a prototype for a performance/sportier version with or without more horses than the current flagship, the 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 petrol model.
If that's not the case, then it could be a tester for the confirmed 334hp (339PS) 4.4-liter SDV8 flagship diesel model (to go on sale next year) or Land Rover is simply trying out a new appearance package.
