VW Releases New Groove Up! and Rock Up! Special Editions for the UK

Volkswagen will introduce two new special-edition versions of its Up! minicar, called the "Groove Up!" and "Rock Up!", both based on the top-specification "High Up!" trim model.
Available only in a three-door body style, the Rock Up! (pictured above) features a series of distinctive styling cues, including an anthracite stripe running the length of the bonnet, roof and tailgate, plus a full body kit, consisting of gloss black front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler.
The door mirror caps are also painted gloss black, apart from vehicles ordered with Deep Black Pearl paintwork, in which case they are chrome. The sporty appearance of the Rock Up! is completed with bi-color 16-inch “Upsilon” alloy wheels.
On the inside, VW's Rock Up! comes with either black or grey seats and its standard equipment includes air conditioning, heated front seats, Maps & More infotainment system, remote central locking and a six-speaker audio system. Optional equipment includes the City Emergency Braking system, a sensor pack that includes rear parking sensors, cruise control and a multifunction computer.
As its name suggests, the Groove Up! (no pictures available yet) is a car for music lovers, being fitted as standard with a Fender sound system, complete with six speakers, a subwoofer and a 300-Watt amplifier. Also standard is the Maps & More personal infotainment device, which along with touchscreen satellite navigation provides Bluetooth phone connectivity and music streaming.
Unlike the Rock Up!, the Groove Up! is available as a five-door as well and comes with a forward-folding front passenger seat to accommodate long loads, plus an optional panoramic glass roof.
Both models are powered by VW's three-cylinder 1.0-liter 75 PS (74 hp) petrol engine, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 60.1 UK mpg (4.7 liters/100 km), with CO2 emissions of 108 g/km.
Prices start from £11,640 (€13,670) for the three-door Groove Up! (£12,015/€14,110 for the five-door), while the Rock Up! is priced from £12,980 (€15,260). Both are available to order now, with first deliveries expected in July.
