Panasonic has officially introduced their latest semi-rugged laptop, the Toughbook 54. Claimed as the world’s thinnest and lightest semi-rugged laptop in its class (0.5″ thinner and 2 pounds lighter than the nearest semi-rugged competitor), this ultra-durable laptop boasts a 14-inch 1080p or 768p IPS display (10-point multi-touch support optional), a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-5300U vPro processor, an Intel HD Graphics 5500 (AMD FirePro M5100 graphics optional), a 4GB – 16GB DDR3 RAM and a 500GB shock-mounted flex-connect hard drive with heater for cold temperature operation (128GB SSD, 256GB SSD & 1TB 7200rpm HDD optional).
Not only that, the system also provides a number of connectivity options including WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) and optional 4G LTE with satellite GPS. For operating system, the Toughbook 54 runs on either Windows 8.1 Pro Update 64-bit or Windows 7 Professional.
The Panasonic Toughbook 54 will be available this month from authorized Panasonic resellers at an estimated street price of $1,499.
