New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Showcases AMG Package in Leaked Photos

If the styling of the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class isn’t considered sporty or exclusive enough by some customers, they will be able to opt for an AMG Line exterior kit.

As the leaked official photos show, the AMG package features a front apron with large air inlets with wire mesh and chrome trim elements, side skirts and rear apron with built-in diffuser. The package appears to be the same one that we saw on the C-Class photographed in Germany.

The AMG Line also includes 18-inch light-alloy wheels in 5-spoke design, painted in high-sheen titanium gray, as well as the sportier radiator grille with integrated Mercedes-Benz star and two louvers in matt iridium silver with chrome inserts.

Also included in the AMG Line Exterior Pack are a lowered sports suspension (by 15mm or 0.6in), perforated front brake discs, large chrome exhaust tips, window surround in polished aluminum and others.

The AMG Line for the C-Class is expected to debut at the Detroit Auto Show.

2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Sedan with 4.0L Bi-Turbo V8 Rendered

To the delight of photo manipulators, all three major German premium carmakers, including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are very predictable (to the point of tediousness sometimes) when it comes to the appearance of high-performance versions of their regular models.

As such, imagining the styling of upcoming cars like the next Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sports saloon is a pretty straightforward process – change the grille, lower the ride height, add model-specific front and rear bumpers, side skirts, bigger alloy wheels and trim details, and you're all set.

Mercedes-Benz Reveals Surprisingly Subtle S63 AMG with 577HP Bi-Turbo V8

We had the chance to see what the new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG would look like thanks to a video shot inside the factory, which caught the car on the production line with no camo whatsoever. Even that quick glance showed it looked very restrained, and now that it’s been fully revealed we have shots from multiple angles proving the same point.

Said to be around 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter than before, thanks to various weight-saving measures, including the use of a lithium-ion battery, which itself saves some 20 kg (44 lbs), the new S63 is nowhere near as in-your-face as its predecessor, despite receiving a completeAMG visual makeover, to go with the extra performance it boasts.

I for one, think it’s a bit too subtle, but then again I’m not the target audience for this car; those it is actually built for will probably mostly care about the interior and performance, anyway, both of which are highly competent and competitive.

Power comes from a twin-turbo5.5-liter V8 engine, also powering a variety of other AMG models, which with the help of two turbos gives the S63 577hp (585PS) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft). It has the sole aim to outperform “all comparable engines,” while remaining “the most efficient series-produced V8 engine of all.” So, with the increase in power (41hp up) and weight-shedding, the car can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in just 4 seconds when equipped with4Matic all-wheel drive (like the US-bound new E63s), which grows to 4.4 seconds for the regular rear-wheel-driven model – the fast AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sports transmission helps too…

Moreover, Mercedes quotes the same 0-62 mph time whichever body style you go for, and this is in part due the long-wheelbase model’s minimal weight handicap over the standard car, of 25 kg (55 lbs), though, the long-wheelbase is the standard car, and the standard car is a ‘chopped’ or shortened version of that, according to the original information from when the new S-Class came out.

Predictably, the rest of the package contains stiffer suspension, unique lightweight rims, optional carbon ceramic brakes (offered for the first time) as well as customary sporty touches throughout. Inside, there’s an AMG sports steering wheel with aluminum paddles, AMG logos everywhere, sportier seats and dials appropriate for a car this fast and powerful.

Being an S-Class, optional extras are plentiful, and can completely change the experience, if chosen with care one recklessly ticks all of the boxes. For instance, not only can you get an “Exterior Carbon-Fiber pack,” red-painted brake calipers and special trim pieces, AMG is also offering an engine cover also made entirely out of the same material, in order to keep weight down.

This is only a small part of what the S63 AMG is about, and more specific information, hopefully some reviews/drives will make their way onto the web prior to the car’s debut at the Frankfurt motor show, in September.

Mercedes Releases U.S. Prices for 2014 SLS AMG Black Series and C63 AMG Edition 507s

Coming soon to a Mercedes-Benz store next to you, are three brand-new and special AMG models: the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series coupeand the 2014 C63 AMG Edition 507 sedan and coupe, all of which have more power, more features, and as you would expect, a higher price tag.

To get into the specifics, the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series will set you back $275,000 plus $1,800 for destination and delivery, or $75,100 more than your run-of-the mill 583hp SLS AMG Coupe.

We've covered the Black Series in the past, but if for whatever reason you don't want to read our previous posts, in a nutshell, it gains a 622hp version of the V8 engine for a 3.5 second run to 60mph (96km/h), chassis revisions including suspension and brakes, a faster transmission, styling and aero improvements, plus new wheels and a re-trimmed interior.

The other special models are the C63 AMG 507 Edition Sedan, priced from $70,000 plus $925 for destination and delivery, and the C63 Edition 507 Coupe that starts at $72,500, excluding $925 for destination and delivery.

The short story on the 507 Edition (the long story can be found here) is that it replaces the optional AMG Development Package adding 56 hp to the output of the 6.3-liter V8 for a total of 507hp with 450 lb.-ft. of torque

According to the Germans, the coupe 507 Edition accelerates from 0-60mph (96km/h) in 4.1 seconds, or 0.3 seconds faster than the existing 451hp C63 AMG and also beats the former optional AMG Development Package which produced 481hp by 0.2 seconds. In addition, maximum speed has been electronically raised to 174 mph (280km/h), up from the standard 155mph (250km/h), while Mercedes has also tweaked the styling and added carbon ceramic brake discs.

Sales of the C63 AMG 507 Edition begin this month.

Mercedes Releases UK Pricing for New C63 AMG Edition 507 Series

Packing an extra 50 hp and 10 Nm of torque over the standard C 63 AMG models under their bonnet, the new C63 AMG Edition 507 models that sit right under the more hardcore Black Series variants of the range will be available in Britain starting from July in Saloon, Estate and Coupe body styles.According to Mercedes-Benz, on-the-road pricing begins at £66,960 for the C 63 AMG Edition 507 Saloon, £68,160 for the Estate and £68,160 for the Coupe.
With 500hp (507PS) and 610Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque available, the C63 AMG Edition 507 reaches 62 mph (100km/h) in 4.2 seconds (4.3 seconds for the Estate), while thanks to the AMG Drivers Package that ups the speed limiter, all models can accelerated up to an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph (280km/h).
Besides the power boost, all 507 Editions come equipped with upgraded 19-inch Cross-Spoke alloy wheels in a Titanium finish, a high performance composite brake system with red brake callipers and an AMG bonnet with power domes and air outlets painted in a high black gloss that also appears on the exterior mirrors, radiator grille and front apron. The sedan also gains a boot lid spoiler.
As for the interior, improvements over the regular C63 AMG include designo Black Leather as standard or alternatively, the optional designo Porcelain Leather with Black Dinamica and contrast stitching or the designo Black Leather with Black Dinamica as a no cost option, a performance steering wheel, black gloss trims, red accents on the instrument cluster and Edition 507 badging on the dash.
As an added bonus, all buyers will receive a free pass to an AMG BASIC Training Power and Passion Event held at one of five racetracks in Germany, including Bilster Berg Race Resort, Nurburgring GP, Hockenheimring, Sachsenring or Lausitzring.
According to Mercedes, "hotel accommodation, catering, a Driver’s Dinner and technical support are all included," but customers "have to cover the cost of getting to the circuit and any extra insurance costs required for track use."

Mercedes-Benz UK Prices New S-Boosted E 63 AMG Saloon and Estate Models

If you're looking for an E63 AMG with a little more grunt and style, but don't want to follow the aftermarket path, Mercedes-Benz has developed a new "S" series for the facelifted versions of its high-performance mid-size model with increased power and subtle aerodynamic enhancements.

The new E 63 AMG "S" models are available now for order in the UK with first deliveries scheduled for June at prices set at £83,740 OTR for the Saloon and £85,530 OTR for the Estate, or £9,995 more than the standard E 63 AMG variants.

What the "S" package brings is a 28hp and 80Nm increase for a total output of 577HP (585PS) and peak torque of 800Nm (590 lb-ft), allowing for a 0.1 second faster run to the  62mph (100km/h) mark at 4.1 seconds for the Saloon and 4.2 seconds for the Estate.

The combined fuel consumption for the sedan is 28.5 mpg UK, with CO2 emissions of 232 g/km, with the Estate achieving 28.3 combined mpg UK, with CO2 emissions of 234 g/km, which is the same as the standard E 63 AMG Estate.

The S models also come fitted with an AMG rear axle limited-slip differential lock as standard, with the exterior gaining a high-gloss black front apron with silver-shadow splitter, side sill panels and rear trim strip with silver-shadow inserts, an AMG spoiler, 19 inch alloy wheels in Titanium matt grey, red brake calipers, and ‘S’ labeling on the boot lid.

Interior upgrades over the regular E 63 AMG models include black nappa leather upholstery with grey contrast stitching, silver seat belts, an AMG emblem in the headrests, an electric rear roller blind for the Saloon, AMG doorsills with white LED illumination, and an AMG instrument cluster with red applications and 'S' badging.
