2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT: New Name for the Refreshed Coupe and Roadster Models

Just two years after the SLS AMG 'Gullwing' coupe went on sale and less than a year since the introduction of the Roadster model, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a mildly update version of its halo supercar, which from now on, will be known as the SLS AMG GT in both body styles.
The update mostly focuses on improving the SLS AMG GT's performance and handling with the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine gaining an extra 20hp over the outgoing model at 583hp (591PS) at 6,800rpm, while maximum torque remains the same at 650Nm (479 lb-ft) at 4,750rpm.
Along with a faster AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed double-clutch transmission featuring newly developed gear change functions and optimized transmission control, the V8 propels the SLS AMG GT from zero to 100 km/h 0.1 seconds faster than the current model at 3.7 seconds, and can reach 200 km/h (124mph) in 11.2 seconds [0-60mph:3.6s].
Top speed is electronically limited at 317km/h (197mph).
The 2013 model is also enhanced with the newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension that features stiffer spring/damper tuning and dispenses in "Comfort" mode. There are two more settings named "Sport" and "Sport Plus".
The German supercar rides on 19-inch, 10-spoke forged alloy wheels wrapped in 265/35 R 19 tires up front, and 20-inch rims with 295/30 R 20 tires on the rear. Three additional AMG light-alloy wheels are also available.
Visual changes for the 2013 SLS AMG GT include the darkened headlamps and taillights, red-painted brake calipers, a new black gloss finish for the grille trim, exterior mirrors and the fins on the bonnet and wings.
On the inside, Mercedes-Benz added Alcantara to the door panels, center sections of the seats and the flat bottom steering wheel which also gets a red 12 o'clock marking, gloss black accent trims, and black dials for the instrument panel cluster.
New optional features include an AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather package and a fresh assortment of color combinations.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT will go on sale in the U.S. in mid-November 2012, replacing all previous SLS AMG versions, with prices to be announced.
In Europe, sales commence in October 2012, with prices in Germany set at €204,680 for the SLS AMG GT and €213,010 for the SLS AMG GT Roadster.
