We don't know for how long Cadillac planned to keep the spanking-new 2014 CTS under wraps, but following an initial surprise (of sorts) this morning with a first batch of pictures showing bits and pieces of the executive model which has dropped a full photo gallery.
The new generation of the CTS sports a sleeker, better-proportioned and more dynamic interpretation of Cadillac's sculpted Art & Science styling language, with finer detailing, especially up front with the tear-drop LED lights
Inside, the dashboard continues the same styling theme seen on Cadillac's newer models like the ATS and XTS, with a large capacitive touch screen for the CUE infotainment system, and what looks like a full digital display for the instrument cluster.
From what we know, the new CTS will ride on a bigger platform allowing Cadillac's mid-size sedan to grow in size and compete directly with the likes of the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, instead of being positioned between two categories, as was the case with the two previous CTS models.
GM has told us that the 2014 CTS will launch with a choice of three gasoline powertrains, including a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four with 272 horsepower, a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 producing 321-horses and a brand-new 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 420-horsepower. All engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels, with the two base engines offering AWD as an option.
